This is pretty cool. Spotted a post on Scribbles in the Margin about the A-to-Z Book Tag, originated by The Perpetual Page-Turner. I haven’t participated in a book tag before, but the concept seems straightforward; it’s like the blog community’s version of a chain letter! Let’s do this! I didn’t watch the Golden Globes last night (like most people) but I was delighted to wake up to all the highlights this morning. It was an odd show; there was a visible dichotomy between moments of great significance (like Meryl Streep’s Trump speech, Donald Glover’s acceptance speech for Atlanta, and Viola Davis’ moving acceptance speech for Fences), and moments of complete rubbish (like Tom Hiddleston’s self-congratulatory speech and Sofia Vergara’s bit about not knowing English), so a lot of people have mixed emotions this morning.
One moment that was particularly inspiring happened on the red carpet with Evan Rachel Wood. Knowing that she would inevitably be asked about her clothing, she chose to make a statement, and I love it! When speaking to ET’s Nancy O’Dell about her fashion choice, she says, “I actually decided this year that I wasn’t gonna wear any dresses to any of the award shows,” Wood said. “This is my sixth time to the Golden Globes, and my third nomination. I’ve worn a dress every time, and I just wanted to be a gentle reminder for young women, dresses are great, I’m not protesting them or anything, but they aren’t a requirement.”
